Pho 88 Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I've eaten in and ordered take out from here several times. The service is slow and perfunctory at best. The pho is decent. There's always a cinnamony smell when the take home broth container is opened that I find kind of odd. I also never feel like there is enough of the "add-ins" given (sprouts, etc). However, it's decent pho and close to home. I've had better, but I've also had worse. This place will definitely do in a pinch when I don't want to drive to Eden center or hit up the better places in Fairfax.

Their service was Horrible, the girl never came to check up on us...if we needed something we got up and had to ask her...the food had no flavor.

Okay I'm resigned to thinking that the best flavored Pho must also be accompanied either by a dingy restaurant or by a mean, uninterested server who seems that you are an annoyance for dinning in their establishment. With those two assumptions out of the way...my first taste of the Pho soup results in a moan and a audible OMG. Pho 88 was at least clean. The server needs an attitude adjustment or a laxative. The pho atones for her sins. The bubble tea was good too. So... morale of the story is: Yes I will suffer a smile-less attitude-ridden server for delicious pho

Great neighborhood Pho place! It is comfortable and the food is solid and consistent. I usually go in the non rush times and I get my soup pretty fast.

Unflavored shrimp and egg rolls were not very good. Iced coffee was ok but be careful when you place orders ...waitress brought me wrong coffee and egg rolls and charged me extra.

One of the worst pho places in nova, unhappy server, watered down broth, tiny slim egg rolls wo taste and left wanting a refund on my check...couldn't even say "thank you" after I said thanks when I walked out Omw to 7 11 to wash down the taste

Pho was good . Very fair prices too. Meatball pieces were especially good. Service was slow, but this is to be expected when restaurants understaff.

Huge Disappointment. For $8 "Lemongrass" chicken with vermicelli noodles, the presentation, quality and taste were all poor. I've been to multiple vietnamese restaurants and have had delicious Lemongrass chicken. This chicken didn't look or taste fresh at all, it was a weird consistency almost like it was pre-cooked and soaked in salt. Very stingy on the vegetables and the sauce didn't have a good taste to it. I've Been to Viet Royal in theEden Center twice and the food was amazing! I shouldn't have tried Pho88.

Pho 88 has service that you would expect at a pho establishment in Northern Virginia - to the point. I went by myself on a weekend and was serviced right away. I ordered a large bowl and a beer (33). The prices are very competitive relative to the other pho spots in falls church area. Parking is fairly tight in the back; I had to park by a dumpster and entered through the back. The meat and broth was ok, not as good as Pho 50 at Loehmann's plaza a few miles away. The sides were comparable, but service was better - all women service at pho88 vs. all men wait staff at pho50 that are extremely impatient and expect you to order before you sit down. will come back to pho88 next time I have a pho craving mainly because I live nearby and the service is good. I would not go out of my way to get here, but I will try one of their dishes other than pho next time and see how good the cooks are.

The service wasn't stellar, but I my tea came out of the kitchen not too long after the waitress put my order in. Really good vegetarian pho (didn't taste at all like beef or chicken broth, like some "vegetarian" dishes I've had elsewhere). The veggies were nice and fresh and there were lots of them. I appreciated that I didn't feel rushed at all and could have sat there all day with my book, sitting in a sun beam (it was chilly inside and cold outside). It would have been nice to have been told that I needed to pay my tab at the counter, but I just kept reading and figured it out myself :)

Ordered a regular bowl with bible tripe. The broth was very good and plenty of meat portions. Typical pho restaurant interior, leaning a little on the cheezier side. All in all I liked it and will visit again.

A-OK Not too shabby so to speak... I usually frequent Pho at Hmong Viet or Pho Sate... This place is less than a mile from where I live, so I had to try it. Ordered a regular pho, #5. Came w/ the sprouts, basil, lime, and jalepeno. Broth was tasty, didn't have msg (or at least I didn't react to it).. and wasn't too salty. I wasn't too full when I left though, there wasn't as much beef as I had expected. Would return because of convenience..but would probably stick to my regular pho sate.

This is my go to place for Pho, mainly because it is so close to home. Pho 88 is a small place right in the middle of Falls Church. It is is slightly cheaper ($0-2 less) and they have pretty quick service here. However, I want to point out that they have smaller than usual portions here.

Phreakin' Pholicious!!! I'm sick as a dog and stuck in Ballston with no pho nearby....so I search around online and find this place, which turns out to be an easy busride away..... Yowza, and yum! First of all, it was jam packed inside I was lucky to get a spot at the bar (bar is misleading, it is bar type seats at the window, not a spot for getting liquored up), but I'm happy with it because there is a spot to put my feet up while I eat and read. The staff were really friendly and quick. I had to share my siracha (or as I like to call it, my hot cock sauce) with another fellow at the bar and the table behind me, but instead of being an imposition it merely strengthened the neighborhood homey feel of the place. My large Pho Ga was really large, not a wimpy large at all, and the chicken in it was one of the finest I've had! The pieces were smaller and more tender than most other places I've been, but there was plenty of it! My to go package (because I knew I'd want more later since I am sick and miserable) was done really nicely. The noodles and chicken are seperate from the broth and there is a gigantor bag of sprouts-basil-jalapeno WITH a little container of hot cock sauce!!! Came with chopsticks and a spoon (not the nice spoons alas, but still, it's there!) and lots of love! I want to go back here again, and again, and again.... nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom

After being sick with a stomach bug for the better part of a day, this pho cured me. As we live right around the corner from this restaurant, we had walked by it many times, but only yesterday could I not stomach most food. My wife swears by pho as a restorative elixir, but I was a bit hesitant to try a new place. But, we went anyway, and wow, were we amazed. First, we ordered some of the soft spring rolls. They had a lot of vermicelli in them and a generous amount of shrimp. The peanut sauce was excellent. Next, came the pho. I ordered the three kinds of beef, and my wife ordered just one kind of beef. The broth was deeply flavored, and as a previous reviewer had mentioned, not salty. I added some of the brown sauce and a small squirt of sriracha, and it was a great meal. The more I ate, the better my stomach felt, until I had eaten the entire bowl. Thank you, Pho 88!

I took a chance on this place with a colleague, thanks to Groupon. The location and parking was fine. The prices were decent. However, the pho broth was so bland, it tasted like hot water. I had to drown it with so much sauce, both bottles were almost empty after I was done! If it was not for the groupon, it would have been a complete fail! I consider myself somewhat of a Pho expert. My benchmark is Pho 75 as consistently good Pho. But, this Pho 88 must be the worst pho I ever tasted!!!

Tucked away in a little mall off Route 7 in Falls Church is Pho 88. I have to admit that pho is one of my favorite foods, and never having been here before, I had to try their pho. It was very good. The broth had a nice flavor of anise, and the soup had a generous portion of meat. We also ordered spring rolls with peanut sauce, which was also delicious. The servers were very friendly, and the prices were great. Definitely going back!

We stopped by here on a Friday evening and found there was not a crowd in the restaurant (despite the good rating from Yelp. We got seated right the way but found the table extremely dirty. I think that the server forgot to wipe the table down. We had some of the "weekend special" - and they were okay. The pho and the food were okay too. Nothing that will get you stand up and scream in delight. We ate and left.. and nothing memorable about the food, the meal, nor the restaurant.

This is the most convenient place in Falls Church and we go just because Pho Sate is being remodeled and easy to get to. Pho is just ok, not great. The service is dependably poor. The main waitress always seems angry and gives off a negative vibe. Uncomfortably unpleasant.

Pho 88 has the best chicken pho I have ever had. The broth is delicious and the herb flavors are so balanced. The chicken is incredibly juicy and tender.., unlike any other type of chicken I've tasted in soup. It tastes like it was cooked in a crockpot (it isn't dry or fibrous like some of the chicken phos that I have tried). Also, If you haven't tried them, this place also has the best spicy wings...ever. So addictive. Who would have thought that the best place for wings would be at a little Vietnamese place? My husband and I don't live close to Pho 88 anymore, but we will gladly drive out of our way to go here. It's not the best looking place on the inside, but don't let it fool you. This place is a total gem.

I've never had better pho in my life, and although I didn't grow up in a household where pho was a meal staple, I've had my fair share over the past 15 years. There isn't much to write in this review: The meat, noodles, and broth were all very well-prepared. The restaurant was clean. The service was friendly and fast. Pho 88 is now my favorite place for Vietnamese noodles, anywhere in the DMV.

I'm gonna have to blame Thuy L. for this one. Thuy? Are you out there? Are you reading this? It's all your fault! :-) It all started with Thuy asking me if I'd been to Pho 88 in Falls Church yet. I had not. I had not even heard of Pho 88. So I figured out where it was on a map, and armed with that deadly information - I knew that soon - I would be walking into Pho 88. And so it was that day, that fateful day - where I would be exposed to potentially new Pho goodness - was today! (sounds overly dramatic doesn't it?) :-) I would have missed this place just driving by normally - it's right on Route 7 in Falls Church. There is no parking out front - I drove around the block and found parking in the rear of the building - as well as a rear entrance. It was about 2:00 pm - so the place was mostly empty - except for two other tables. I ordered the Summer rolls and a small bowl of Pho Ga with white meat. The Summer rolls came out - AND - they were quite a bit different than any other Summer rolls I've had. The noodles in the rolls were piping hot. Every other place I've been - they are served either at room temperature or even slightly chilled. For the experts out there - question - are they supposed to be served this way? In any case, the temperature of the rolls did not appeal to me. I'd like them at room temperature. Then the Pho came out. The aromatics and veggies al looked and felt fresh. I must say - the broth was absolutely fragrant and delicious. I ate most of the soup without adding Sriracha to the broth - but I added small amounts of Sriracha to individual bites. 1 star for the Summer Rolls, but the Pho Ga, service, and ambiance earn it the overall score of 4 stars. Thuy - I will be back! Thanks for the recommendation!

Absolutely the worst spring rolls we ever had. The Pho broth had nice flavor but very little stuff in the soup. The shrimp pho did have more shrimp than expected. We recommend eating pho somewhere else, sorry....

Regulars. Great value, fresh and delicious pho. No frills place just good food. Main wait staff are not immediately very friendly but they warm up once you get to know them. My favorite is the raw beef slices on the side which you cook in your own Pho. My daughter who is 7 loves this place. The fresh spring rolls are good too which excellent peanut sauce. Iced coffee is great!

Came in for lunch. Good service, decent egg rolls, disappointing lemongrass chicken. I might come back for the pho, but with places like Four Sisters in the area, but probably won't unless if big changes are made.

This place is excellent. My son recently introduced me to pho. I can be a little picky about what I eat. I decided to give this a try and boy was I surprised. Now I can't get enough! I'm so glad we live so close to Pho 88! We will be coming back again and again.

I've eaten at several, if not most Pho places from Eden Center to Loehmanns.... and i'm surprised how bad this place has gotten. The ambiance is ok but I used to go here for lunch with my coworkers and I must say the quality of the pho has gone down. This time around I had the Pho Ga (chicken), crispy and spring rolls. The rolls were standard neither great nor horrible. The broth was almost tasteless compared to other Pho places in the area. The noodles were standard but my soup contained barely any chicken. My friends had the #4 and complained that there was barely any meat in their soups either. I will probably not go back to this place for a long time.

The pho is very good, broth is delicious, flavorful but not salty. The vermicelli dish is very good too. Milk bubble tea is very tasty, as good as the bubble tea sold in Flushing China town of New York City. The food are recently priced, good value. I have been there twice last week since I discovered it. In addition, Parking is easy, they take credit cards.

Nothing special.... don't even know what to write. However, I will note that service is painstakingly slow. If you're hungry, then STAY AWAY!

Pho, in my opinion, is a bit like making a salad-- it's really hard to screw it up. But when it is screwed up, you know it. I decided to roll through Pho 88 on a whim instead of making the trek to Eden Center but it was well worth the trip. I have yet to go to a bad pho place so my willingness to stop by a pho restaurant I've never tried is pretty open. In other words: my definition of a bad pho restaurant would have to be run out of an alleyway, use grade F meat and the servers would only refill my water once-- so this is pretty rare right? That being said, Pho 88 seemed like a decent choice in comparison. Pho 88's not exactly the most glamorous place but they served up some tasty bowls o' pho. I'm a big fan of adding any and all mystery meats to my pho so I had the pho with tendon, brisket and tripe. Pretty tasty! Shower that baby with some sriracha and you're good to go. I had the small bowl which was around $6 (which is great because I can be a cheap bastard sometimes)- and it definitely was filling. For all you veggies out there, they do have a vegetarian pho bowl FTW!

I come here very often with my dad. There is a back parking lot which you can park in and they have a back entrance. Once you step inside, it's like you are in a whole different country. The same nice person always greets us and says "you may choose a table." Then she brings you the menus. The menus have a lot of other stuff besides pho on it. My dad and I both always order an appetizer of fresh spring rolls and veggie egg rolls (because we are vegetarians.) For our entree we both also get the veggie pho. While you are waiting for your food there is a TV to watch and if you do not want to watch TV, they have newspapers for you to read. It is often not crowded, so the wait for your food is not long. Once your entree arrives, they give you basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños to Dice up your entree. (But only if you have pho). There is sweet sauce and spicy sauce for you to put on your dish. The food is superb

Who knew this place actually had good pho? So close and tucked in Falls Church's armpit, I barely even noticed this place. The pho smelled so good walking in. First taste of the broth and I was surprised at how good it was. I'm definitely coming back and the prices are relatively cheap compared to other places. Don't order the goi cuon. The peanut sauce was super peanut buttery (if that makes sense) and the roll itself had nothing to show for but a lot of vermicelli noodles. Beer is also $1.50 - 2.50! Can't beat that price.

  • Karen L.

Mediocre, at best. Low-rent space with food to match. Summer rolls that fall apart after the first bite, served with peanut dipping sauce the consistency of hair gel. I ordered a lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl that had about a half-ounce of noodles hidden underneath an excessive pile of bean sprouts. Friend had lemongrass chicken with rice and it was the blandest looking plate I've seen in a long time. Neither of us could taste lemongrass. Other friend had lukewarm steamed veg, which means it'd been sitting on the counter for a while before it got to us.

First of all, my boyfriend and I went here to grab lunch after getting groceries. We found a Groupon and thought, what a great deal. The place had a funny odor when you first enter. We sat down to very warn tables and chairs, not a huge deal for either of us. I had been convincing him to use chopsticks, which was a mistake because the chopsticks, forks and spoons are sitting on the table in a communal bucket. Eww! The water glasses were full of dirt so I was not drinking that. We ordered drinks, I got a sprite(which I drank with a straw out of the can) and hot tea that came out promptly, he ordered a lemonade soda that took about 20 minutes to arrive. . We ordered the chicken egg rolls- pretty good, and he order shrimp pho with beef broth while I stuck with white meat pho with veggie broth. My poor boyfriend's first pho experience kept declining as he found some sort of FLYING BUG in his soup. He had completely lost his appetite, but we wanted to get the money's worth of the Groupon. They removed his bowl and offered us other items and he order more egg rolls and fried shrimp to go, as he could not be in that restaurant any longer. Our bill was $25 dollars and we purchased the $30 Groupon, but taxes could not applied to the Groupon so they gave a second bill for $4.00, mind you we still had $5.00 left from our Groupon. I never carry cash so I handed the server my card and she caught an attitude as if I was the one that caused the problem. Finally, we left and will NEVER return. Definitely better places in the area, would never recommend this place.

Although I don't eat meat anymore, this place had the best Pho I've ever had! I used to go all the time with my husband. The broth is delicious, not too salty or overseasoned. The meat and herbs are fresh and delicious. The place is no-frills, but it is definitely the best Pho in the DC area. I spent 2 weeks in Vietnam in 2009 and had a lot of Pho and Pho 88 knows what they are doing!

We were going to go to Eden Center to get some Pho, but along the way we decided instead to try this place again. We were here once before a long time ago, but really didn't remember much of this place. We both ordered two large bowls of Pho. It was good, and inexpensive. The rolls must not have been very fresh because the essentially disintegrated when we dipped them into the peanut sauce. For a Thursday night this place was pretty packed too.

I really do hate to give this place 1 star but every single thing we ate was just horrible. The service from the get go was unpleasant. The waitress was taking our order then when the phone rang and left us not once not twice but three times. I understand there isn't enough help but when you have a paying customer waiting you cant risk loosing them to a phone call ( that's my opinion). The spring rolls were some of the smallest iv ever had out of the many pho places iv ate at through out the years. They were very greasy and the filling was very dry and bland. The fresh spring rolls were def by far the worst i have ever ate, EVER. The thing that made it gross was that they made it to order but used hot noodles which made the cucumber inside hot and gave it a weird smell and unpleasant texture. These rolls are always severed cold or at room temp. The pho meat that was used didn't look nor taste fresh by any means. The broth didn't have much flavor and was overpowered by star of anise or some other spice. Everyone at the table got half way through and said i just cant eat this. Pho 88 is in the top 3 worst Pho places iv ever eaten at.

Pho 88 is a perfect little spot on Broad St in Falls Church. They have a menu with many different combinations and it was absolutely delicious. I started off with some spring rolls in a peanut dipping sauce and then got the #1 pho order which had round eye steak, flank steak, tripe and tendon and it was awesome! The service here was also very food, there are only about 15-20 tables here and the one waitress there was killing it. She got my order, food and drinks out in a timely fashion.

I came to this place looking for a good pho place and, if I remember correctly, I think I tried this place out through Yelp reviews. So the first few times I got the pho only. Well, the spring rolls as well. I thought the spring rolls were pretty standard. The pho is very good here. The broth tastes cleaner than most pho places I've been to. I've brought guests from out-of-town and they agreed and thought the pho here was very good. Highly recommend it. However, this time I thought I would try their vermicelli; in particular, their lemongrass chicken. Not bad. But not as good as other places I've been to. I can't describe what it is about it though. Too bland maybe? The lettuce pieces are too big and not shredded enough? The chicken has less of a grilled taste to it possibly? Whatever it was, it made it a little disappointing. The restaurant itself is nothing special. They repainted the place a little while back and that definitely made it better than what it was before. Service is decent. I think they have a relationship with the owber of the TuttiFrutti next door since they offer 20% off for Pho88 customers. That's not bad. So, for me, I will go here for my pho fix. That's about it.

So I'm sad to say that I would have avoided this place given the negative reviews it's had within the past year, but I'm glad I tried it without checking yelp first. It was hot so I was craving something light but tasty. The deluxe salad delivered! Loaded with pork, beef and shrimp, served with nuoc mam sauce and absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked and plentiful, the lettuce was absolutely fresh and you could taste the pride and care that want into everything. Plus it was very affordable! Not sure if everything has gotten better since the remodel, but I plan on going back and trying everything else.

After not being able to come here for about a year due to work, this place is just as good as I remembered. Wings are still great and the pho is amazing. The broth is well flavored, the meat cuts were better than most pho restaurants, the owner is happy/friendly (even remembered me and my order when I walked in - spicy wings and large #4), and the restaurant is always clean. Oh how I wish I worked closer to go here as frequently as I used to. Definitely a hidden gem and glad to see that many others have discovered this place and have had a similar experience.

  • Ananya M.

Decent Vietnamese option in the Falls Church area. My standard order at every Viet restaurant is the lemongrass chicken, and the one here, while good, did not impress me all that much. The meat felt over-grilled and not as juicy as what I've had at other places. The iced coffee is great though; I like the way they serve it. It's down the street from me, so I'm sure I'll be back whenever I have a craving for Vietnamese food.

I love this place with a passion. The workers are very friendly and always greet you with a smile. The pho is very tasteful and always helps for a bad stomach. The service is always good and I love how they give you a 20% off discount at their also owned, "tutti-frutti" frozen yogurt shop right next door. I admire how they are able to manage two stores and provide great food and great service. Keep up the great job and great food!

I used to come to this location years ago and remember it being fairly decent. Now that I'm back in the area, I wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately, I left disappointed. The service was direly slow for a pho restaurant. I waited nearly 25 minutes for my single bowl. There were two servers, neither seemed happy or excited to be serving. As far as the pho, the broth was too salty. Since the whole meal is dependent on the broth, it really just killed the bowl. No sate sauce is available. I had to ask multiple times to even get some chili sauce/not sriracha. On the upside, the meat is a better quality than the average pho place and the bowl is relatively cheap. Large bowl of generous size was around $7. Too bad it wasn't better.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but this one I was extremely disappointed. 1. SCAM - Bought a groupon back in September, and went there the next day, there was a sign on the door saying "closed for renovation". Finally had time to go last night, and they said they don't accept groupon long time ago, and told us to call groupon CS for a refund! WHAT? On the fine print, it said the promotional value expires on 24Dec2014, and the face value will never expire! Honestly, if it was not because of the groupon, I would never consider to go here, it was a very interesting way bringing in customers! Totally a SCAM!!! 2. Food quality - Bad! I grew up in LA and had Vietnamese food numerous of times! This was definitely the worst I had ever tasted! I guess they just used too much salt and MSG on everything! 3. Price - Quite pricey, just had an appetizer and 2 entrees and didn't even order any drinks. The price was equal to a buffet for 2! I don't think I want to come over here again and wish there wouldn't be anymore Groupon victims like me!

Even with only one server, it wasn't too long of a wait for service or food coming out. I mean, it wasn't like lightning speed like other pho joints but I didn't just order pho. We used a groupon and picked up the #1 pho, crunchy chicken entree, spring rolls, hot Vietnamese coffee, and mango bubble tea. Everything was good except the rolls; it lacked the typical fragrant mint and cilantro leaves. It tasted boring and bland without the herbs. Also the peanut dipping sauce wasn't tasty or looked too appetizing. Also the mango bubble tea tasted perfume-y and plastic-y and too watery instead of the texture of a smoothie. For that I take one star. The other .5 was the unusual odor that hit me when entering the place coming from the parking entrance. It slightly made me lose my appetite but I worked through it. After a while of sitting there, my nose got used to the odd smell. The service was friendly enough. No complaints on that. She only had 3 tables including ours so was able to pace herself such as bringing out food, refilling water glasses, etc.

Located in the heart of old town Falls Church, Pho 88 serves a good bowl of Pho. The meats and vegetables are fresh and tasty. I have only taken my meals from here as carry-out, but, the restaurant has a tidy dining room with several table sizes available. The size of the dining area is smallish, and a crowd would seem daunting. But in Pho/American tradition, if the people at the tables eat when it is time to eat, the space rotates well. I like this place, and it is on my list of regular visits.

Normally, I head over to Eden Center for pho, but didn't feel like making the trip, so I tried a place closer to home, Pho 88, and I am so glad I went. Good, flavorful pho and delicious spring rolls. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. I've eaten a lot of pho and I am very pleased with this place. Friendly service in a quaint little city. I definitely recommend this place!

Bought a Groupon and tried out. The service was slow even for Saturday evening. The restaurant was half full when I walked in, I was told to sit wherever, given the menu immediately, but had to wait 10 minutes before I finally got to place my order. Food came out 20 minutes later. There were only 2 waiting staff (serving and cleaning and working at the register) to cover 7+ tables and take out orders. By the time my food came out, the restaurant was full. I ordered a regular pho with steak/meatball (#14) and also a deluxe rice vermicelli. The pho noodle came out like a chunk of brick in the soup which was a turn off but the broth was okay, not too salty. The vermicelli dish was disappointing with some watery sauce that didn't taste like anything. The dish had more bean sprouts than vermicelli noodle. Overall, just an average pho place. The price is reasonable but nothing special.

I was excited that they offered veggie broth for the veggie pho. This was actually the main reason I even got the groupon. Too bad it was the most watered down, tasteless pho I've ever had (even after adding loads of sriracha and peanut sauce). The black milk tea had a piece of hair in it. Disgusting. The veggie garden rolls skimped on the fillings and were pretty bland for a fried food item. They were really strict and un-accommodating when I asked to sub ingredients here or there. The place feels old and not in a cute hole-in-the-wall way, which you might forgive if the product itself was worth your trouble. Also not sure why it was unnecessarily freezing inside. No music makes for lots of awkward silences. Just a really unpleasant experience and won't be back.

Pho is salty. It lacks the robust flavors. and there was a hair in my daughters soup. The summer rolls are warm and the peanut sauce looks like it contains more corn starch than anything else. The waitress was very nice and apologetic. I should have continued to Eden Center as planned.

I have been all over NOVA searching for a good Pho place and this one tops all the others I have been to. The inside is small, but recently updated, parking is in the rear and can be a problem to find or get a spot because there are other stores in the same strip that also use this lot, but the minor parking issue alone will not change how great the food is. My wife is not a fan of pho...correction, WAS not a fan until I convinced her to come here with me and try it. The chicken is tender and eye round is great. I have also ordered crispy chicken with rice and honestly I was shocked because I had never heard anyone not ordering Pho from here so I was a bit worried. It was perfectly cooked, the sauce was fantastic, and the portion was spot on. Each dish is under $10 (ok not ALL but 95% of the menu) and they have kids portions available which is great for little ones. I recently moved closer so now its a weekly ritual to come here, however I was living about 15 miles away when I initially discovered it, and any time it was a Pho day...it was a Pho 88 day. Try it out. You will love it.

This is my favorite Pho spot-yes the server isn't usually smiling-but I'm half Asian, so I'm used to that. :) The Pho though-on point! I get the vegetarian and they put the right veggies and don't overcook them! My favorite are the cute little mushrooms; unlike the gross canned mushrooms I've seen at other places.

Excellent and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. This is a no frills restaurant...just great food! I gave it 4 stars because the place did not look very clean and the fresh rolls had a lettuce instead of fresh basil which was a bit disappointing.

Granted I do have a bit of a cold. I stopped by Pho 88 during a quick sleeting that Falls Church received before my Doctors appointment. I know what your thinking! What a perfect time to have Pho. You're sick? And It's cold as a motha outside. How could it get any better. The Pho meats have always eluded me. I don't really have a go-to combination. I look at all the meats "rib eye, well cooked brisket, tendon, etc" and am just confused. Whatever ones I pick- a giant bowl of soup with some thinly sliced beef usually arrives at my table. I usually can't tell the difference between any of the meats. Minus the tendon- I'm not a fan of tendon. Well, I ordered a regular size bowl with rib-eye and I read through some of the Yelp reviews as I waited for it show up. And I have to agree with a good portion of people in saying that the soup is just bland. If this is what NOVA people consider great Pho- I'm gonna have to bring ya up to Maryland to take you to the University of Pho up in Rockville. The vietnamese egg rolls were also fairly bland and the sauce that it was served with was so thin that it couldn't even stick on the rolls. I don't know about Pho Places in NOVA- but this did surely not impress.

It was a beautiful sunny day and I went for a walk and saw a place named pho 88. I wish i did not wake up this morning! it the worst experience of my life. The pho tasted like soup water. There was a piece of hair inside my spring roll. the waitress with the hat was very nice and apologized a lot. Otherwise the floors were dirty and the table looked like they were bought in a yard sale, i should have stayed in my cute little house and ordered real food.NEVER COMING BACK, even if it is to hide in a zombie invasion.

Best Vietnamese coffee! Great prices. The food was really good. This is a great lunch experience - 2 regular bowls with coffee, and an appetizer for $25. The service was prompt and friendly. For as small as it looks outside, there was actually plenty of seating including a small, window bar area. The bowls were tasty - the mint and jalapeno's were fresh.Don't expect a lot of shrimp in the seafood bowl, but everything else was proportionate. The wings were crunchy - not super spicy but the flavor and the texture was probably the best I have had. Everything was perfect. No complaints. Will definitely be back. Happy to have found this spot in my new hood. p.s. park in the back

***2.5*** I brought my 5 siblings here and we all ordered crispy spring rolls and a bowl of pho. Spring rolls were small and just filler. Pho broth was tasteless :/ perhaps it needed more anise? None of us finished ours. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My youngest sister hates onions and forgot to ask for her bowl without onions and they were very understanding. Service is a 5!!!

FYI - I went there today and the place is being demolished inside. Turns out they are CLOSED TEMPORARILY for remodeling until an unspecified date in October. A handwritten note on the front of the restaurant says they will be re-opened in October, but doesn't give the specific date. Not sure what to do if we have a Groupon that expires in early October...

    (4)
  • R O.

Bought 2 groupons figuring it would be easy to use them both...but after using the first groupon I never wanted to use the second. The bubble tea is powder and water mixed together. I haven't been to many places that don't even bother disguising the use of powder for bubble tea by making it a frozen drink. But now I know where to go if I do! The broth for the pho is light with not much depth. I had high hopes for the fried spring rolls. Had. Oh well. To be fair I am not a huge fan of Vietnamese food but if I have to have it I want it really fresh. Preferably with a smile.

I have been there twice after moving to east coast. I usually go there when I go to visit my friends in Falls Church.. Its usually on a saturday afternoon when they are not busy and after a heavy night of drinking.. the Pho portion is generous and good. So far had only pho and wings.. like it both.. definitely will go again when in town. Cheap, Fast friendly and good food ..

I love this place! Its delicious, super fast, and they take credit cards. I usually order either brisket or chicken pho, both are wonderful. Broth is flavorful and the perfect temp (sometimes pho is brought to you at like 9000 degrees and you burn the crap out of your mouth...not cool) I also love their vegetarian summer rolls. They're filled with fried tofu, which has just the perfect balance of crunch and soft. Plus, their peanut sauce is the bomb dot com. They're also toddler-friendly here. My son loves their lemongrass chicken with broccoli and rice (although they do tend to under-cook their broccoli...but then again toddlers don't care). Oddly enough they also serve mozzarella sticks that he likes as well. Their bubble tea is to die for. That is all that can be said about that. YOU WILL DIE FOR IT. The tapioca "pearls" are literally the perfect consistency and they have a nice range of flavors. I personally like the mango, papaya, and thai tea flavors.

Pho was a okay and service was awesome. But everything else was such a disappointment. Ordered both fried egg rolls and summer rolls. This was the first time ever I didn't finish my egg rolls and egg rolls are my favorite! But this was just plain nasty. Summer rolls weren't that much better. With all the other, and way better, Viet restaurants near this place, I don't know how this place stays open. This was a pretty bad dining experience.

When it first opened I was living closer by and came here often. I'm not sure if it's changed ownership but it doesn't seem the same. There is more on the menu, but the service was really slow. The pho broth was solid, noodles good meat ok. Not sure if they where understaffed but it seemed like it. The place was kind of dirty and for such a small place, took a long time to get orders out.

If I had to give a single word review, it would be "MEH". Ok, backstory. Groupon was offering a $30 for $15 deal. I said to myself, $30 of food, it can't be too terrible and well damn, it's a PHO place. Nothing to hard right? So let's see. Went on a Saturday night, parking was ample and the decor was alright for a vietnamese place. If you know anything about Pho/Vietnamese places, we aren't flashy, but more utility places. So to the point. The broth is what really makes a Pho restaurant. It was ok. Flavor was super weak and I had to drown it in lime and hoisin sauce. They did give ample garnish which is always helpful. The pho noodles were the thin version and there wasn't too much life to them. Got springrolls and the summer rolls. Summer rolls were limp and the rice noodles seemed a bit off. The spring rolls were very very very sad. Greasy, no taste, and was just a pity party of a springroll. I was super adventurous and got the fried shrimp. I'm thinking like friend shrimp, asian style. Wrong, it was friend shrimp, americana gordons fisherman type of thing. Equally as greasy as the springrolls and was probably a frozen bad prep food. The redeeming points are the cost of everything, they had specials on the weekend and it made me wander. The cost of a large bowl of Pho was really well priced, so it made it all the more worthwhile for the lacking taste in the Pho broth. Next would be the service. Super super service. It was a busy night, maybe 65% packed and I got everything in a timely manner. So in all, it's not a terrible place. I've had better, but if you are in the mood for cheap pho and really just need to kill a craving... I think this would be the place. If you wanted more flavor, go to Pho Sate.

I made the mistake of taking my friends to this restaurant. The veggies for pho were not fresh, and the soup tasted very bland. One of my friends ordered the crispy chicken on rice, which literally was a only fried breaded chicken breast on white rice.

Went here for lunch. Service - not overly friendly, servers didn't seem to be happy to be working. But they didn't seem disgruntled either and service was reasonably attentive and efficient. The food...was ok. Fried spring rolls were good but very small. Garden roll lacked flavor big time. The pho was acceptable - portion was good, the brisket was good but the meatball had a funky taste. The broth was rather bland... perhaps a little watered down. The lemongrass chicken was ok - chicken was a little charred and lacked flavor. The dish was served with just rice, chicken, and a side of broccoli. A little too basic. The iced coffee was rather light for vietnamese iced coffee so I would avoid this. Overall, i would go back. It's right on route 7 in downtown falls church away from eden center so i like that. They also have some sports bar appetizers like wings and fries and onion wings which makes it interesting.

Food ====== $2.99 Thai Tea w/ Bubbles $8.99 Lemongress Beef with Jasmine Rice $6 Pho Thai, Nam, Chin Overall, nothing to write home about. An abundance of "I've definitely had better" murmurs. They had a nice lunch crowd going, but beyond that... I had the lemongrass beef and didn't taste the lemongrass at all. Just tasted like grilled thinly cut beef. That strong scent I associated with pho also wasn't present but that may be because of the healthy bend they're going for. I think my greatest disappointment was that they didn't have Com Bo Luc Lac. I thought that and Ga Roti were pretty much house staples of any Viet restaurant. Decor ======= Matching. Otherwise, not there for looks, just utility. Service ====== Dropped off waters right off the bat. Was nice about checking in regularly. To all appearances, unhappy. Extra! ====== - Parking behind storefront, shares space with Maneki Neko and others.

Maybe it's because we came in an hour until closing, but I didn't find anything remotely remarkable about Pho 88. At $5.95 for a small bowl of pho, the price point was perfect. The service was friendly and welcoming, ranking above average for a pho joint. The menu was easy for non-Vietnamese to navigate, with the pho section being the only area of the menu that had Vietnamese on it. My boyfriend ordered the "crispy chicken" vermicelli bowl and I got #5. The entrees get points knocked off for presentation. The crispy chicken was two generous pieces of fried chicken breast, sliced and placed unceremoniously in a large bowl of iceberg lettuce, julienne carrots, and bun noodles. It came with a small dish of nuoc mam. I sampled a bite and it was prepared well and the meat was juicy and tender. However, growing up, I cannot recall my mom preparing "crispy chicken bun". Its Vietnamese authenticity is suspect, but if you enjoy Japanese chicken katsu, then I'm sure you will like their rendition of this dish. The accompaniments to my pho were very fresh, but amounted to a giant pile of bean sprouts, one Thai basil, one lime wedge, and 3 slices of chili pepper. The broth was clear, the fragrance light. There was a hint of spice that I usually can't detect at other pho places, but that was all I could get out of it. It didn't have that hearty beef flavor that I was looking for. My pho featured three types of cuts of meat, and it seemed like I only was served 3 slices of meat. I finished my bowl and but felt dissatisfied. Again, maybe it's because we came very late and got the leftovers of that day, but I felt they were stingy with the garnishes and meat. I'm willing to give it another try just to prove it wasn't a fluke, but I left feeling unsatisfied and thirsty, despite drinking a glass of water. I'm in no great hurry to return.

the food here tastes so bad...It total stinks. even with using the Groupon which cut the price down in 1/2 but we couldn't eat any of the dishes. Pho is just hot water with a chicken broth cube, the egg rolls (inside meat) are totally gross and salty. The coffee is ridiculous with no taste. In conclusion, all the food here is unacceptable and gross. Go to Eden Center for real tasty Vietnamese food (Huong Viet, Rice Paper or Nha Trang)

My coworkers and I love coming here for lunch! My review is limited to the vegetable pho (pho chay). I don't eat meat, so finding a great bowl of vegetarian pho is very important to me. The broth here is very flavorful and the soup is filled with vegetables and tofu strips. In addition, everyone else really enjoys their meaty pho!

This review is solely for their bubble tea! Now I have been searching for a decent bubble tea place ever since I tried the stuff in Chicago and New York and it hasn't been easy! But this place has the best ORIGINAL bubble tea (the iced version, not smoothie stuff even though they have that too) I have had here in NoVa. Their tapioca pearls are perfect (not too chewy and not too soft) and their flavors are fantastic (I got the honey dew which is one of the more common bubble tea flavors). All I have to say is I love this place. It's too bad it's all the way out in Falls Church when I live in Oakton :(

I went to Pho 88 with my friend on a Friday evening. I was expecting it to be decently crowded but instead there was only 1 huge table occupied by a family (Most likely Vietnamese - which some ways indicates a lot about the place). The place has simple décor and looks undernoted. We ordered the fresh spring rolls which were ok (very deep fried), Spicy chicken wings - deeply fried which were average (ordered based on seeing reviews from yelp) and chicken pho which was good. The staff interaction was just acceptable. No greetings or anything like that. They need to work on their décor and make the staff a little more cheerful if they want to attract more crowd.

Okay I'm just going by what yelp says is a 5-star review. This place is: Woohoo! As good as it gets!... for beef pho. I've lived next to the Eden center for a long time, and I've tried pho from EVERY place in there. Yes, Tom Sietsema I've even been to Four Sisters and the new Four Sisters. The Pho is very good, but its too fancy for pho. It doesn't hit me like a street noodle soup should hit me! Plus Four Sisters offers up way better dishes so I rarely waste my time, especially because Pho 88 is so much closer! This place is as good as it gets for beef pho and iced bubble coffee. Plain and simple. Everything else on their menu ends in tragedy, and the atmosphere is not very... well... it's a little dirty. We'll just leave it at that. Friendliest service though. Way, way, way better then Pho 75. Hands down. (Service and Pho, now that I mentioned it) Broth is fresh, piping hot, and is NOT salty. It has a medicinal quality and is my first choice for a hangover cure. Noodles are perfectly cooked and do not get over cooked when they sit in your bowl too long. At a lot of places the rice starch will start to break down and get all mealy on you. (Pho Sate - the runner up) Not pleasant. Feeling adventurous? Ask for your beef raw on the side and cook it in the broth your self. It will cook to a perfect medium rare or medium depending on how long you leave it. Pho is so much more enjoyable and flavorful this way and I highly recommend it. They will not look at you funny, it is a very common way of eating this dish. This allows the beef to be more tender and less like boiled leather. Bubble coffee - it's brewed fresh and not from a mix with mocha bubbles on ice. I dare you to find a place that does it better! Best of all - they take debit and credit. Bottom Line: go for beef pho and iced bubble coffee. Leave happy.

The one star is only because the staff were all friendly when I walked in. I totally get that pho is geared toward the beef-eating crowd. But in today's cultures there are more and more vegetarians. This place only offered one vegetarian pho option, and it was a great example of what non-vegetarians think of vegetarian cuisine. The broth was simply celery and onion stock, with a ton of salt. The vegetables were not cooked, and the udon style noodles were in the shape of a brick, a shape which they maintained even after sitting in my soup for ten minutes. The vegetables were not flavorful or even original. I should note that when a restaurant overly salts their food, they do so to hide inferior quality products. That would have been expected here, if they had charged $5 or less for the soup. however, they charged me a whopping $9.25 for a small. I didn't even eat half of it. If you are vegetarian and looking for delicious and inspired vegetarian cuisine, go to Sunflower down on 7 (east). Wayyy better, and worth the $$.

Pho 88 is great! I went in on a whim because the therapy I go to is right down the street, I always pass this place and wonder if it was any good. well it seems like alot of other Pho places got better reviews (which I will have to try) but didn't accept cc..ok I'm sorry but we live in AMERICA where plastic is prevalent and plentiful (probably means the same thing-hehe) so get with the program. I really don't think Asian places can use this excuse of ethnicity being the reason they don't take MasterCard. I'm sorry and in Vietnam I'm sure there are plenty of flat screen TVs let's call a duck a duck and cut the crap! sorry I didn't have my nap today! anyhoo Pho 88.. the Pho was sub par, I got the #1 which is tripe, tendon, brisket and beef. I like my meat raw on the side because it will cook in the broth and become med rare not shoe leather. it's so weird that in Dallas in 108 degree weather this is OK but here I got a coke eye for even asking...weird. I also had a Thai ice tea and shrimp summer spring or fall rolls who cares they where tas-T and I loved that they didn't try to skimp me on my shrimp by putting more veggies or Lot's O noodles! the Thai iced tea was also amazing I mean this is the first time I've had it and it wasn't way way way to sweet just right. I will return probably tomorrow...I will say I'm going to the gym but we all know how that works out ....promises promises. word to the wise the green peppers are very spicy, they don't give you alot of limes you have to ask and there is a little girl there who belongs to someone who works there (obviously) she is the sweetest thing ever please do not ignore her when she says goodbye (which i saw people do) this is very rude...The End!

Good enough to walk to, but if I'm driving there are a half dozen other spots I like better. The servings were small, the service was slow. The flavor of the broth and quality of the noodles was good enough. I ordered the #1 and could not find any beef tendon. The place is pretty worn. I've been eating Pho for 25 years and my favorite is still my first, Pho 75 in Rosslyn. Pho 88 is good enough and I'll pop in again because I can walk there from my office.

2 stars seems a little harsh, but considering the local Pho competition this place is not a winner. The price is good but the food isn't. I got the combo pho. The broth was bland and really salty (not in a good way,) salty like canned beef broth. There wasn't much meat either. You can get way more bang for your buck at other nearby places. My wife got the vegetable pho and, frankly, it sucked. Bland + salt = bland and salty Her noodles were in a big unworkable clump, which is usually an indication of less than fastidious cookery. I won't go back. Not while there are still a million better places a stone's throw away.

Pho 88 is an adequate place for pho with a few rice and noodle options as well. Parking lot is behind the restaurant off route 7, but you can still walk in from the front using the sidewalk. The dining room is quaint and cozy inside, avoiding the kitschy decor typical of small Vietnamese restaurants. Service is efficient, and they accept plastic -- just remember to pay at the counter when you're done eating (common at pho restaurants.) I noticed all the other reviews were on point. The goi cuon felt like it was going to fall apart in my hands; the rice paper was probably left soaking for too long or maybe the noodles carried in the extra moisture. The accompanying peanut dipping sauce had lots of peanut butter. On a whole, the appetizer tasted like something I'd enjoy homemade at a friend's house... but it's not what I'd expect from a good restaurant. The pho has a very flavorful beef broth though slightly salty. The spices are very light, so it's accommodating for unseasoned pho palates. If you're accustomed to the unadulterated taste of pho, a bowl here may leave you wanting. The usual beef cuts and condiments are offered; garnishes are limited to jalapenos, bean sprouts, lime, and basil. When the soup comes out, the bundle of noodles sticks together at the bottom. I'd advise using your chopsticks to easily work them apart before you start eating to save yourself from some effort later on. My pho was still warm 15 minutes after coming out, though not too hot to start diggng in as soon as it was placed in front of me. I would likely stop in if I was hungry while walking through downtown Falls Church.

My favorite pho. I always order the number 11, the fresh spring rolls and the iced coffee regardless of the weather. Everything on their menu is good, except for the fruit juice which I personally can't stand. The service is great, the staff is friendly and prompt. Plenty (for falls church) of parking in the back. Superior pho...and I have tried plenty. I love them. I come at least once a week.

I'll preface this review by saying I'm a relative newbie to the Pho world, but I thoroughly enjoyed this place. It's very unassuming but it's clean and in a good location right in downtown falls church on route 7. I got the Pho Tai and some vegetarian fresh rolls (noodles, greens and tofu) because I'm addicted to them. All of it was delicious- the meat was sliced nice and thin, the broth was flavorful and of course it all came with the requisite side of bean sprouts, basil, lime, jalapenos, etc. The fresh rolls were plump and delicious and I loved the peanut sauce they came with. The service was incredibly fast and the waitress was attentive with the water refills and was very friendly. My only question is does ANY pho place have a soda fountain?

The Pho Ga at Pho 88 is delicious! My friend and I attempted to get our "Pho on" at Eden, but the parking lot made us revert to Plan B. I'm glad we did, as my experience at Pho 88 was awesome! The broth was seasoned to perfection, the chicken was tender and the ingredients were fresh. (farm raised white chicken- yes!) My Green Tea bubble tea was amazing as well. If I could site anything that needs work is that the waitress doubled as the cashier and was not as attentive as she should have been. Bless her heart, though. They need more staff. I'll definitely return...

I've become a regular at Pho 88, after sampling pho at no less than 10 other soup-joints in the Northern Virginia area. As others have noted, the staff is very friendly, as evidenced by the warm greetings to all the regulars - of which there are many. Many regulars are also vietnamese, and opt to come to Pho 88 over the dozen or so Pho places only 2 miles away at the Eden Center. As for the food itself, it is excellent. The sprouts, cilantro, basil and other produce is bought daily and has always been fresher than I've seen at any other pho restaurant. The sprouts are always white and pristine - never brown. The well-done brisket - it's "well done" as advertised. The fresh sliced steak is a fabulous cut, completely devoid of any fat. Their tripe is trimmed very nicely aswell, and the vietnamese meatballs are small and flavourful. I've notices that many regulars opt for the chicken pho - predominantly the solo professional woman diners. I can only attest that it's very popular - the beef-noodle soup is so good that I really don't care to try the chicken or veggie pho. The only other dish I've had is their crispy roll - which are also very very good. I find other reviews complaints a little strange - of all the other pho shops I wouldn't rate Pho 88's soup saltier than the median. True, their broth is light in taste and colour, and it's not the most savory. The freshness of their produce really shines through in this broth though!

I shouldn't even write about Pho 88 because now I am going to have to drive over there and get some! Each bowl of soup at Pho 88 is accompanied by fresh coriander leaves, bean sprouts, hot peppers, and lemon wedges. Some with bean sprouts, basil, hot green peppers & and limes. Pho 88 gets consistently good ratings and with good reason. This stuff is addictive. The place itself is so quiet and unassuming, you wouldn't guess they could crank out such fresh, fresh food, but they do. And it's consistently well-prepared. I am indeed giving it an "As good as it gets" because they do a great job being themselves. The have an extensive menu - - each done very well. Now, I'm starving!! pho88va.com

This place is great! Their Pho is not the BEST I've tasted but very close to it! I eat their vegetarian pho every time and I love it! It really gets my pho fix in. Atmosphere is nice, nothing fancy, a true to it's colors little Pho joint. The service is always excellent, they are always smiling, sometimes they forget to fill your water, which is kind of important since I use TONS of Siriacha hot sauce! I love taking my friends and family there and everyone enjoys it. I would eat there right this second if I could! One thing I don't like is every single time I'm there, they have their little kids running around, two little girls, and they are running around the dining area sometimes or being loud behind the counter. Some people may find it endearing but I find it annoying. That and the waitresses are wall wearing t-shirts or casual clothing. They don't need fancy uniforms but would a black shirt hurt? Or a t-shirt with your logo on it? Something so I can tell you are the waitress and not a customer? Otherwise I love this place, best Pho in the area.

OK food, but weak on service. Waitress clearly does not like her job and takes it out on customers. Food is generally fresh, but flavor is average which is a disappointment because of Vietnamese flavor intensity. Prices are good and location is OK. Average place if you are in rush to get some food, but not a show stopper.

Pretty standard Pho shop.. The spring roll were on the small, not so special side. The pho was average but lots of meat so overall good. Vietnamese coffee was good, I like it when they serve it to you with the filter and all. Service was kind of slow even though it wasn't too busy. I would come back for its convenience to where I live but if I'm driving then I'd head over to the Eden Center.

The pho here is fragrant and tasty. My family usually orders the Tái and the Gà (Ln). We have also ordered and enjoyed the Fresh Spring Rolls (Gi cun)--the brown peanut sauce is different from others we've tasted, but we like it, and the Lemongrass Chicken. We usually order take-out. There is a small additional charge for this service (.50 per pho order). The service when eating in and taking out is always good. They never forget to remind me to heat up the broth in the microwave before eating to ensure that the pho is very hot.

Avoid the pho here. I love pho. The short on Pho 88 is that it's not very good. It's slightly expensive for what you get in terms of portion size. There also aren't a lot of varieties of pho (with the variety coming from different combinations of types of beef, such as tendon, meatballs and flank), unlike other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. What was most egregious about my dining experience here at Pho 88 was that the beef was very overdone, so it had really no taste, and an unpleasant leathery texture. On this basis, I just couldn't recommend Pho 88. There was one lady working the restaurant as cashier and waitress; it's a relatively small dining room in a charming part of Falls Church. If the place got busy, I imagine that this level of labor might be overwhelmed, but when I ate there, about 1PM on a Sunday afternoon, there were only about 4 other couples dining there. The restaurant and bathroom were relatively clean, and the cashier/waitress was pleasant. The wait for the food was short, and a mounted TV on the wall was showing Fox's football coverage. If you do decide to come, be sure to park in the back, where the storefronts share a parking area.

Best Pho in the area. Other pho places simply do not compete. We have been to many as we love pho. The services is wait as you can, but so worth it. We always bring our two boys who love it and the food is fantastic. Hands-down the best in the VA/DC area near DC.

I don't know how much you can write about pho (outside of the fact that it is completely addictive and I will forever be greatful to an ex who introduced me to it in my poverty-ridden undergraduate days). I'm really glad to know this place is so close to my house so that I can fullfill my pho need anytime. The comments about the rolls and peanut sauce are pretty spot on. Mostly rice noodles and basically peanut butter. That's whereany complaints end for me. The pho itself was a decent portion for the regular size. It was hot, tasty, and oh so welcome after a hike in 20 degree weather. I was there in the middle of the day on a Sunday, so there were only a couple other people occupying tables. I found the waitress (owner?) to be very nice and fairly attentive. Total bonus: The little girl (who I guess was the owner's daughter/niece) was adorable and did a little song and dance for us as we left the place.

Yes, we have tons of Vietnamese restaurants in Houston, with far greater selections. Yes, I know that there are several opportunities to have great Pho in the No Va area. However, I give this location 5 stars for the great customer service!!! I had befriended the owner and used to come here at least once a week for the Pho Ga (I was told the children's portion would suffice for an adult). I love the bubble Thai tea - usually, minus the bubbles Lol! The fresh spring rolls were not really for my palate because I like seasoning and they were bland. The customer service is the best and I miss them!!!

This is our regular Pho place. We tried several other places before moving to the area in 2003. Pho 88 opened around the same time and we thought that it was comparable if not better than other Pho places we'd tried around this area. Plus it's so conveniently close to home! Why drive further for something that's possibly only marginally better? They also do good bubble teas that is not sickly sweet like many other places. Just ask them not to make it too sweet. My 6 yr old daughter LOVES Pho 88 and especially the bubble tea! Very laid back and kid friendly. (Closed on Tuesdays!)

Oh Pho 88... how I heart you! This is one of the pho places that I frequent that has consistent quality. I always get the pho ga (call me unadventurous if you must). The broth is always seasoned well and very flavorful, the chicken is tender and moist, and the noodles are never over done. The service is always friendly and from experience with friends who frequented the restaurant, they will remember you and what you order with is always a great surprise! Overall, this is a great place for delicious pho on a rainy day (or any day at all really)!

Just tried Pho 88 for the first time after moving to the area. Thanks to Yelp for helping us find it and all of the reviewers for the really helpful reviews! Great beef pho... Really delish. Good spring rolls - falling apart but tasty. Coconut bubble tea was fine, but not great.

The best Pho place in northern Virginia and possibly anywhere in my opinion. I love chicken pho, and they make the best chicken, it's not a dry stringy chicken found and 99% of pho restaurants. Not to mention their spicy chicken wings are to die for!! I've been going here for 6 years. Moved around some and always try new pho places looking for something just as good. But I keep coming back to pho 88 whenever I'm in the area.

I don't know how this place got any stars for it's Pho. When I went there the broth tasted like it was made outta instant Pho bouillon. It was terrible and really salty. Definately NOT real warm soup awesomeness that I was expecting. Too bad too because it is the closest place to our home :(

The Pho itself is really good here. Very homely staff, with the owner's two little girls always willing to chat with you if you are interested. I have never been disappointed here. I still have to try other dishes though - I'd be surprised if I didn't like it.

The noodle is very good and the broth is quite authentic. However, there are very little meat in it. And the fresh spring roll is terrible. The rice wrapper is so sticky that you had half on your fingers and won't go into your mouth. And there is no BASIL in it! Shrimp is not real fresh either. Will not go back.

one of the best pho places in the dc area. staff is ridiculously nice and the noodles are perfect. the extra meat is awesome and well worth it.

Good Pho, Good Spring Rolls. Great service. We go often so it is no surprise that they recognize us every time, but we really appreciate the friendly faces!

Pho doesn't really have much flavor. The beef spring roll was good though.

A light yet flavorful pho broth, with just a hint of star anise (I prefer just a hint). Ordered the basic eye of round which was also had good flavor but a bit light in the amount provided.

A decent place for a quick lunch. The round-eye steak rarely comes out rare, but the broth is tasty enough for me. I really prefer Saigon Cafe, but Pho88 is closer and the hostess is WAY cute and fob. From what I've observed, the portions are a little on the small side, prices are in line with every other pho place ($6 regular, $7 large), and the place is usually quiet. I had one of their vermicelli dishes once, absolutely disappointed. The lettuce was diced into unmanageable cubes and made eating it kind of a chore. But I suppose it isn't called Vermicelli 88. I'll keep going because I like the atmosphere and random chance of getting raw meat in my pho.

Started coming to this Pho about 6 months ago after realizing what a pain it was getting to Pho 75 from here. This place has really grown on me and has become an (almost) weekly tradition. If you're a Pho fan, this is as good (if not better) than any of the others. :) I'm not the most adventurous person on earth, so I always wind up getting just the plain noodle, but my compadre seems to enjoy the meats. The Green Apple Yogurt drink helps to soothe the palate after the spicy red sauce ignites the inside of your mouth. Very Yummy.. :)

Super friendly. I love their Pho. They also don't make you feel like an idiot if you are new to the pho ordering game as I am. Easy in and out and a large pho out the door for $8.15.

I'm not sure how this Pho restaurant got some many stars on their reviews especially when my experience here was an utter nightmare. A few colleagues and I decided to grab some pho after hitting up the gym on a Thursday night. We arrived at about 6:30 and we were seated promptly, which was probably the only thing they did right. On this perticular night there were 2 other tables when we were being seated. We ordered some egg rolls and pho. The egg rolls looked more like lumpia due to their size, arrived with the bean sprouts and mint leaves and that was it for the next 45 minutes. We sat there waiting for almost an hour for our pho, while watching other people come into the restaurants get seated and have their food brought out before ours. We literally watched other tables come and leave before we got our food. I can't imagine another pho restaurant which takes almost an hour to get out 4 bowls of regular pho. While waiting for our bowls of pho to arrive, I overheard a complaint from a table adjacent to ours where they found something in their spring rolls. They complained to the lady who took their order and asked to talk to the manager and the lady said she was the manager and wouldnt do anything about the fact that they found something in the spring roll. That is just the epitome of poor service and even worse management. I would rate this place no stars if possible. The best bit of advice I could say is to spend your money elsewhere, unless you have time to waste and don't care about service that is worse than that of McDonalds.

Cheap Pho. Friendly service; very family friendly. The kids like the slushy drinks and they have a good menu for those non Pho lovers.

I'm not sure where people are coming up with these bad reviews. When I'm in the area, I try to make it to Pho 88 once or twice a week. The broth is perfect - not too strong but just thick enough and not covered in a layer of grease or MSG the way some places do it. The chicken pho never disappoints, and I've never had any issues with the flank steak either.
